PBIS Winter Celebration

David Barton is proud to be a PBIS school! PBIS — Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports — helps us create a positive, encouraging environment where students learn how to make good choices. When they show positive behavior, they earn tickets they can cash in for rewards!

This December, we’re excited to host a PBIS Celebration for all of our students. Each grade level will enjoy a movie together, and during the movie, students can use their PBIS tickets to “purchase” snacks and treats.

To make this celebration special, we’re asking for your help in providing some of the needed items. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will directly support our students as we celebrate their hard work and positive choices. Linked Here

We’re also excited to celebrate our wonderful teachers with a special Snack Cart Day in December! To help make this treat extra fun and meaningful, we’re asking for donations of some of our staff’s favorite snacks. If you’re able to contribute, your support will help bring a little extra joy to our teachers during this busy season. Every donation helps make this day special! Linked Here

🗓 Please send in student celebration donations by December 15th.
🥛 Chocolate milk donations should be sent on December 18th due to limited storage.

Please review the available slots below and click the button to sign up.

Thank you for helping make December special for both our students and staff! 💛💙

❄️David Barton’s PTA Winter Wonderland Celebration❄️

We’re excited to welcome our students to a magical morning on Friday, December 19th from 9:30–11:30 AM — and we need your help to make it happen!

We’re looking for volunteers from 9:15–11:30 AM to help bring the fun to life.

📝 Please note: Volunteers will remain at the station they sign up for and will not rotate with their student’s class. This helps keep everything running smoothly as classes rotate through each activity.

We truly appreciate everyone who signs up. Events like this are only possible because of the incredible support of our DB families — thank you for helping us create joyful moments for our students!

Dressing for the Weather

Students were reminded this week during our Morning Zoom Meeting to look at the weather to plan his/her day accordingly. Sun and wind can definitely be factors even when the temperature is in range, but generally speaking:

*Chilly is considered 40 and above*
*Cold is in the 20-39 degree range*
*Extreme cold is less than 20*

If your student doesn't have any of the clothing items in the pictures, please let either myself, Mrs. Rapp (the counselor), or your student's teacher know and we can find something suitable to keep your student safe and healthy during cold weather.

📚 Literature Festival Opportunity!

We’re thrilled to announce that David Barton students will have the chance to attend a Literature Festival this spring! Students can qualify for the trip in one of two ways:

1️⃣ - Read 1,800 minutes between now and January 14, 2026 — students who meet this goal will be entered into a drawing for the trip.

2️⃣ - Read 10 of the 12 Mark Twain Award Nominee books and earn a score of 8 out of 10 or higher on each book’s Accelerated Reader quiz — students who achieve this goal are guaranteed a spot on the trip!
We encourage all families to cheer on their readers as they work toward this exciting opportunity.

Let’s get reading, DBE! 📖💫

Attendance Matters!

Parents: Did you know that there are benefits to regular school attendance for both students and for our school community? Here are just a few ...

Stronger foundational skills: Consistent attendance helps students build skills step-by-step in reading, writing, and math without gaps or confusion.

Sense of belonging: Regular attendance helps students feel part of the classroom community, promoting confidence and engagement.
  • Routines and responsibility: Daily attendance teaches time management, responsibility, and dependability—skills that prepare students for future work and life.
  • Consistent support: Regular attendance ensures students benefit from daily routines, structure, and access to teacher support, counseling, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Stronger school culture: When students attend regularly, the classroom environment is more cohesive and productive.
🏆Attendance Matters!
We’ll be celebrating students with regular attendance at the end of each semester!

Any student with a 95% attendance rate or higher will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card — and FIVE lucky winners will be selected each semester!

We can’t wait to see if your student will be one of our Attendance Winners!

Let’s finish the semester strong with great attendance every day!
