Counselor Appreciation Week

Our activity team is amazing! We want to take a moment to recognize the many ways they go above and beyond for HCP!

Coach Hackman is our PE teacher. He is always setting up fun stations and teaches students about bones and muscles. Coach helped plan our Olympic Day and also helps with our Pirate Pup fun day. In the afternoons, he teaches PE at David Barton and then coaches track & basketball at BHS.

Ms. Spaedy is our media specialist. Students get to visit her in the library and check out books. She is always teaching them about fun technology tools to enhance their learning. In the afternoons, she teaches Project Lead the Way to classes on a rotational basis.

Mrs Jones is our school counselor. Classes visit her about every week. She teaches problem solving skills, reviews school-wide expectations and does character building activities. Mrs. Jones also checks in with students frequently and supports any mental health needs of students.

Ms. Adams is our music teacher. Students love to sing and play instruments in her class. Students can't wait to be selected to be the "Music Star" and Ms. Adams special helper. She plans all the music programs at HCP and DBE. In the afternoons she teaches music at David Barton.

Mr. Cruise is our art teacher. He creates hands-on opportunities for students to create art. Students get to use many different materials in his class. Mr. Cruise is also a great artist himself! He creates a special pumpkin each year for the HCP Pumpkin Decorating contest.

Ms. Katelyn (not pictured) has been meeting with students in kindergarten and 1st grade to learn all about safety. They have reviewed what to do if there is an emergency, fire safety and talked about being safe with technology. When she is not teaching these classes, she can be found in the office.

Thank you to all our Activity teachers!

Glow Dance--Friday, Feb. 6th

We hope to see lots of Pirate Pups at our PTO sponsored event! This event is designed for HCP students. It is strongly encouraged for only HCP students to attend.

RTI--Daily Intervention

All K–2 students will participate daily during the following times:
  • Kindergarten: 1:10–1:40 PM
  • 1st & 2nd Grade: 8:05–8:35 AM
Because this intervention is a critical part of our instructional day, it is very important that students arrive at school on time so they can fully participate. Consistent attendance will help ensure your child receives the maximum benefit from this support.

Thank you for your partnership in helping us support every learner!
